Marine Corps Band (Field 55)

Marines in this field perform music or music-related activities in support of military ceremonies, official functions, community relations, recruiting, and Marine “esprit de corps.”

Opportunities exist for a wide variety of musical talents, including:

        • Oboe

        • Bassoon

        • Flute/Piccolo

        • Saxophone

        • Trumpet

        • Euphonium

        • French Horn

        • Trombone

        • Tuba/Sousaphone

        • Electric Bass

        • Percussion

        • Piano

        • Guitar

        • Vocalist

You’ll also have the opportunity to expand your skillset as a musician by leading others as a small ensemble leader, drum major, or conductor; or become a certified instrument repair technician.

All aspiring Marine musicians must audition and go through recruit training, regardless of occupational field, but musicians do receive additional musical training after completing recruit training.
